Glasser

Over Glasser

Glasser is the solo project of Brooklyn's Cameron Mesirow, a bedroom producer given to lush beds of synthesizer and vocal harmonies. She first appeared in 2009 on a compilation featuring her peers, such as Girls or Salem, who are loosely affiliated with a trend in lysergic, lo-fi pop. But her debut album, 2010's Ring, proved a musical vision that looked far beyond the precociousness of "chillwave" or "witch house." Coproduced by Sweden's Van Rivers and the Subliminal Kid, who also worked with Fever Ray and Blonde Redhead, it's a curious sound, intimate but also expansive, echoing Kate Bush's hypnotic webs and Juana Molina's intricately interwoven vocals. The same year, she released a single, "Tremel," on the XX's Young Turks label.
