LIGHTS

Over LIGHTS

LIGHTS represents a curious development in the evolution of pop music at the end of the '00s, fusing inspirations from emo-tinged electronic pop with a big, radio-ready sound and mainstream appeal. Born Valerie Poxleitner, the child of missionary parents took to music early on, first setting Bible verses to chords and soon recording her own original material: home-produced songs falling somewhere between Euro-dance and the Hot 100. She released her debut EP, Saviour, in 2008. Tours supporting Keane and Owl City followed, and she released her debut album, The Listening, at the end of 2009.
